Why is the bass guitar shaped the way it is shaped?
Like why is it shaped the way it shaped because of the sound . Just curious ?
A solid body electric bass guitar can be shaped any way possible. The original shape was chosen because people were used to the look of a guitar and it seems logical. Non-standard shapes (flying v, explorer, etc) are only limited by playability and the comfort of the player. If you search around you can find some really wild shaped instruments.
An acoustic bass is a bit different. The shape affects the sound quality of the instrument, so most of them are shaped like an acoustic guitar.
